SLC Airport is about an 8-minute drive in ideal road and traffic conditions from downtown Salt Lake City, which is located 6 miles (10 kilometers) from the airport. ![]() I will also say that while it's an interesting drive, there are far more interesting things to see in the region.Salt Lake City International Airport serves Salt Lake City, Utah, and handles around 1 million travelers annually. I've not had any issue with passenger car in Valley of the Gods, but do check road conditions from recent weather locally and know it's outside your agreement. And the toughest part is right at the start dropping down from The View. In Monument Valley, in my opinion it's not prudent to take any regular car onto the park roadway. But it would be outside the limits of your rental agreement. With proper vehicle it's a nice element of the park and connects to the paved Burr Trail into Boulder (or vice versa). That road has been improved now but it's not paved. I've actually taken a passenger vehicle into the Waterpocket District and it was sketchy. The Cathedral Valley area is not suitable for a normal car. You have sufficient opportunities to see Capitol Reef with the paved scenic drive. But it should not really impact your plans. ![]() As Connie indicated, it's the same policy with any car rental.
